Three Champions Who Know How to Fight LEOSU-DC Organizing Director Steve Maritas, Three-Weight World Champion Iran Barkley & Boxing Referee Arthur Mercante jr

June 24, 2017

They say in order to be a champion you must surround yourself with a winning team. Well having a strong team of champions who in their own field have proven themselves time and time again around you gives you a better chance of success in becoming a true champion.

Joining our LEOSU-DC support team, is none other than three-weight world boxing champion, Iran Barkley who held the WBC middleweight title from 1988 to 1989 with a victory over Thomas Hearns; the IBF super middleweight title from 1992 to 1993; and the WBA light heavyweight title in 1992.

And boxing referee Arthur Mercante jr., who's father was the legendary referee Arthur Mercante Sr. who refereed the first Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier fight on March 8, 1971.

LEOSU-DC Organizing Director Steve Maritas had noted " When you have guys like three-weight world boxing champion,Iran Barkley and Arthur Mercante jr as a support team, who have succeeded in becoming champions in their particular fields, who have been around the fight game for years and know how to fight and take a punch, their stories inspire you to be the best you can be. Throughout life many people have said you will never be able to do this or that, but in the end if you continue to fight for what you believe in and don't give up, you may one day become a true champion as these guys have achieved". Fighting for our members each and everyday makes our Union LEOSU-DC the true security union champion of the Washington DC capitol region.

We welcome both Iran Barkley & referee Arthur Mercante jr, to the LEOSU-DC support team.
