Georgetown Law Center Police Officers Unanimously Vote YES to Ratify their Newly Negotiated LEOSU-DC

Washington DC -7/31/18 - Georgetown Law Center Police officers unanimously voted YES to accept their newly negotiated collective bargaining agreement followed by Georgetown University. After four long days of hard bargaining the Law Enforcement Officers Security Unions LEOSU-DC achieved what their previous union spfpa failed to do. Negotiating a wage increase between 4% to 5% just in the first year of the contract for the majority of the officers, plus retroactive pay. It should be noted that Georgetown was noted for only giving out 2% wage increases across its campuses in all of its departments over the years. This falls in line with their previous negotiated wage increases of just $0.50 cents per year for each year of the contract by their former union spfpa.

In addition to the above, the LEOSU-DC was successful in negotiating substantial wage increases in the 2nd and third year of the contract as well as negotiating additional holidays and negotiating back their premium holiday pay which was lost and bargained away by spfpa in the last contract.

LEOSU-DC was also successful in defending against any type of givebacks, including maintaining their health and retirement benefits, while negotiating stronger language giving these Georgetown Police Officers more job security and greater rights and protections. Leading negotiations was attorney Grant Lally from the law firm of Lally & Misir, LLP and LEOSU-DC Organizing Director Steve Maritas. We wish to thank all of the Georgetown Bargaining committee members from both the Law Center & Georgetown University who participated in these very tough negotiations.
