The SPO Sergeants Working at the International Monetary Fund Who Recently WON the Right to Unionize by a Ruling by The NLRB Prepare for Upcoming Negotiations

December 16, 2018

International Monetary Fund (IMF)12/15/18 Washington, DC  - After years of being denied the right to unionize by both Allied Universal and then by Whelan Security, these special police officers who hold the title of sergeant continued to stand strong and unified trusting LEOSU-DC to lead the battle in their quest to exercise their Section 7 Rights.

Once the LEOSU-DC filed a petition to represent these special police officers back in May of 2018 Whelan Security challenged these sergeants as being disqualified from organizing based on their supervisory status.  This case then went before an administrative  hearing  officer, and the National Labor Relations Board NLRB ruled against both Whelan Security and the Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ who attempted to intervene in this case and sided with the company in an unprecedented decision by the Board in Case 05-RC-220538

After winning this major unpresedented case and the right to unionize, these Whelan security sergeants then unanimously voted LEOSU-DC YES in a NLRB mail ballot election. These International Monetary FundWhelan Security sergeants now prepare to for upcoming negotiations to begin sometime in January 2019 to begin the process of collective bargaining to improve wages, benefits, better working conditions. 'We now have a Voice on the job and the RESPECT we deserve".noted Cecil Butler.
